I have removed the float bowls to fix the float valves. I also removed the Main jets and the Pilot jets. I ran them all in an Ultrasonic cleaner. The main jets I can see through but not the Pilot jets. How can I prove them clean?

there is a tiny tiny hole in the end of the jet you can spray carb cleaner in the top and it should come out the end.
if you hold it up to a light you will see through the hole, if not take a strand of wire from a piece of stranded wire and use it as a drill to clean out the hole

Wire from small twist tie is about the correct size if you don't have a set of jets wires

Yesterday evening I took my pilot jets off (carbs were already off of the bike). They looked pretty clean to my eye, but I simply put one between my lips and blew some air through the jet, with my hand just below. I felt a tiny air stream, so I consider they are clean enough.

Are they constant ID end to end? If so I can drill them out, the stuff clogging them is very hard.

You want to soak them in carb cleaner to soften whatever gunk is in there. I use a Welders touch tip cleaner to run through there. I would not suggest to use a drill bit unles you know the perfect number drill size. Over sizing the jets will throw your mixtures off and make it hard to fine tune the carbs. If the jets are beat up just replace them with the proper size. Xj4ever has whatever you need

    Yes a .010 a .011" E string should fit.
    Or a mandolin string.
    Tried a bass string . . . . didn't fit.

if it really hard deposit, you can soak in carb cleaner for a day, the put a bit of olive oil in the pilot hole and use a propane torch to cook it. Be careful not to melt the bowl... let cool, reclean with welder tips or guitar string, spray with carb cleaner again and check for clear passage...
    hope this helps

Are we talking enrichment jets in the bottom of the float bowls or the #40 pilot jets for the idle circuits ?

a number 80 drill bit .0135 inch fits but the bit is very fragile and it may break off if you tried it. go with the e string

As far as prooving that they are clean; using a spray can of carb cleaner (straw on the spray head) give a good spritz through the jet (wear eye protection). If it's clean you'll see a nice spray pattern.
