It's an easy and cheap project. All you need is to remove anything that isn't needed find some short shocks and a solo seat. Happy chopping.

Here's mine. I started with an '82 XJ750 (ug-a-ly bike) and ended up with just the engine and frame when I got done. Everything else are parts from other bikes and homemade fabrications.

Shweeeeet looking ride! I've been looking for ANY EXCUSE whatever to share a listing I saw on Craigslist Portland, OR. It' an XS bobber that is about the funkiest looking scooter I have ever seen1. I have 8 XS's and may try my hand at one or two of these.

Your bike is beautiful now take a look at the other end of the spectrum!

    Portland Or craigslist
    Search on 892173286

    Defiinately worth a look

I am about to start chopping my yamaha xj700 maxim. My plans are to lower it (maybe struts), cut the fender off, new seat and bars, and make it sound loud. Any thoughts or suggestions. I don't really know where to start.

The bike as shown in the pic sure aint running.

You may have gotten that for next to nothing, but lets see what's in it by the time you get: gauges tires, battery, signals, engine mount bolts/misc. missing hardware, exhaust system, carbs rebuilt,, etc......

Cuz it sure is obvious it's not in running condition as shown.
