Does anyone know how to remove the bezel from the gauge cluster(fish finder) of an XJ 750 seca? I have it all apart and it looks like the plastic that holds the metal and glass in is fused or epoxy to the inside. I would like to remove the rusty bezel clean it up and paint it and reinstall it. Without Breaking anything. Anybody have a suggestion? Thank you in advance.

The bezel is held in by a plastic surround that is heat-fused to the front of the housing. I reccomend that you not attempt to disassemble the unit any further, as there is a high risk of breaking both the housing and the glass in the process.

I successfully took 2 units apart to re-paint the metal divider and reassembled them. You need to carefully cut the melted plastic posts (that hold the lens/divider in place) to remove the "melted-over" part that holds the lens/divider in place. Then you can lift out the lens/divider. Both my dividers were starting to rust so I carefully sanded them and sprayed them with rust-preventative paint in matte black. Cleaned the lens and re-assembled with a couple spots of clear silicone adhesive (IIRC in a couple out-of-the-way corners that were not visible when assembled). Even repaired one speedo pointer with some epoxy, wire, and orange model paint.

All of mine had posts that were melted flush to the housing. It was probably a change in machinery or manufacturing method somewhere along the way.
