Anybody have information on decent fairings for an xj700 or any xjs for that matter?

Someone here will tell you a great story about a decent fairing for little cost - it jus wan't be me.

I have a Windjammer that came with my XJ650 Maxim.
It has a crack on one of the lower bouts, I have never put it on . . . This time of year I think about how nice a windbreak would be.. . . Still haven't put it on.

Windjammers are great, don't think I've seen one on an xj700, would probably have to make or modify a mount to get one to fit but they are seriously effective fairings.

Vetter made mounting brackets to fit their fairings to nearly everything. I know that they have a bracket that fits the XJ750, and I know that the non-X Xj700 shares its frame with the XJ750. There are still several small hordes of NOS Vetter fairing parts; you just have to go digging to find them. Occasionaly they show up on Ebay.

Brackets are no longer available for windjammer or or other Vetter products, at least not to be ordered , most people are building there own.
You can check that out and perhaps get a plan( blueprint) from the Vetter owners group online... Or even eBay
I love my Windjammer ( home made bracket)

You don't want an ugly bracket like mine, but I will likely build a new one by next year, right now I'm not much help to you....
If you go to the Vetter owners group, someone there may have a bracket or Windjammer for you , there are some hoarders and someone in your area may have something for you, just make a post there and see what comes up

Be prepared for a pretty serious job of sorting out the rat's nest of wiring in the head light. The stock light and front turn indicators have to be removed to install the Vetter.

I had to remove the entire head light bucket from my Suzuki GS850 and the Maxim that the fairing was original mounted on(BY PO) had the bucket removed as well. Bringing that Maxim back to stock was actually quite interesting.

Hopefully I'm wrong as that would be a much simpler job as you describe it. I also did not have the wiring harness adapter which is why I suggested ensuring it's availability.

    I t
i think with the smaller Vetter Quiksilver fairing they usually removed the headlight bucket , but back in the day full size Windjammers always had the bucket in place, , I should say at least any that I have seen.
