    Hello folks
Been away from this forum for a while as I thinned my bikes, just bought a 79 RD400 looks near mint, starts & runs fine. The oil drains slowly from bottom somewhere on to stand soon as I top the oil mix Can. Any comments leading to arrest this culprit appreciated. Enjoy riding folks !!!

Pull the tank and find the crack that it likely has. If you're lucky it will just be a cracked hose and not the tank.

The oil tank or line to the oil pump probably has a leak. Good news is that it's all accessible without too many issues. Pull off the seat and side covers to start. Go to the bottom of the oil tank and look at the join between the pipe and the tank. If clean follow the pipe to the oil pump. Take of the oil pump cover and look for leaks. Check your clamps on all the hoses. Then follow the pipes out of the pump to the carbs. If the oil is draining it has to be going somewhere so you're looking for the proverbial wet patch......
