XJ650 Maxim Front End Alignment

    I purchased my 81 XJ about four years ago. It had less than 20,000 miles and appeared to be in original condition. I almost immediately attached a Velorex sidecar and have ridden it regularly since.

    I recently sold the sidecar and am in the process of converting the bike back to a solo. I still have flat profile sidecar tires on it but rode it up and down the street today. The handlebars seemed to be pulled back to the right. I thought maybe the pressure steering with the sidecar attached had bent them. I swapped out the bars for some others I had, but there still seems to be some misalignment, when the bars are straight, the front wheel is turned a little to the left and when the front wheel is straight the handlebars are cocked to the right.

    Any ideas on how to address this would be greatly appreciated.

    Get tires that aren't meant for a sidecar, then see if you really have an alignment problem.

    Thanks for the responses. I just watched a youtube video on aligning the front forks. Will give that a try tomorrow.
