Wrong handlebars are causing incorrect routing of cables

I noticed that this bike had a non "yics' engine. My 81 xj650 maxim is a "yics' marked mill.
Was the "yics" engine an option or were they delivered by the factory randomly? Also this
non "yics" engine looks identical to my 82 seca 650 engine.

    YICS started in 1982.

Engine end covers are interchangeable. Does your '81 have YICS on the valve cover?

If so, your engine has been replaced with a newer one.

Or, yours was made at the crossover from '81 to '82 models, got built as an '82 for the '82 year but got incorrectly titled as an '81....... Or was originally titled as an '82 and someone screwed up because they saw the build date of x/81 and went to 'correct the title', etc.....

But, if it doesn't have a YICS valve cover, it ain't a YICS engine.
