OK... I am at a loss on this one. I have been keeping up on or trying to with everyone else that has been having this similar problem. On Friday I cleaned and bench synced my carbs. Good thing to as the main jet on #3 was clogged. Well now that I have done all of that and reassembled the bike I have another problem. The bike now sits idle at about 5400 RPM's with no choke. Before when it was running rough it had to have a little choke at all times just to keep it running. I have adjusted everything I can think of according to the manual on the CD and some of the things mentioned by Rick that the manual seemed to have skipped. I have a new set of carb boots on order as mine are cracked a little but filled with silicone as a temp fix. Any suggestions guys and gals?

Just pull the rack back and lift-out the Throttle Cable connection you have jammed-up under the back of the block.

    Welcome to The Club.

That's THE Number One trap everyone gets caught in when the Carbs are off and go back-on.

    DON'T try to pry it.

If you break it off ... you're DEAD.
If you apply torque to it ... it bends the linkages and you will be likewise ... way up that proverbial smelly creek, in a craft unsuitable for the voyage, with insufficient means of propulsion!

    You are too funny Rick!
But you are correct, I've been bitten by the same snake too.

OK rick this is how I have the throttle attachment set up so please tell me if I have it wrong. To me this looks right. The area I have highlighted is where the cable is running.

It looks to me that your throttle plates are open too much. Back off your throttle adjustment. I've found that at idle, those plates are all but closed.

OK. I still have the carbs off at the moment so I will do that before I reinstall them before I go to work.

Oh, and the way that you've got your cable strung looks fine. When you've got your carbs installed, and you've joined and pulled the throttle cable through the bracket, you should be able to back off the tensioner on the handle bars so that you have visible slack in the cable. This way you'll know you are caught on anything.

You're OK ... the other style Carbs have a pivot that flops down and gets caught behind the block.

String it up so you can attach it and make sure the Cable is slack.
Back off on the Idle screw.
Just sitting there looks like you have opened butterflys.

Maybe you should do an accurate bench sync.

Use a strip of Business Card and set-up 3
Using a 1/4 Inch wide strip of Business Card ...
Match 1, 2, and 4 to the Drag on the Business Card that you set 3 to.

    I GOT IT!

I did the whole business card thing you mentioned in another thread Rick. I didn't have a regular business card handy all i had was a canvas one, so at least they were all spaced the same. I did back off the idle screw like you and Sal mentioned and I think that is what ultimately helped me in the end. Now though I just need to tackle the 1 inch hole I blew in the collector this weekend when I couldn't get the idle down. If nothing else I will just pick up a new exhaust here in a couple of weeks.

You couldn't find a paper Business Card???

The printing industry only turns-out 11-Billion a year.
