    Too much air entering the fuel system? engine running on two cylinders then burning suddenly unburnt fuel (backfire) and then giving up? We'd need more infos about how and when it began to act like this.

    ..yes i think not getting fuel into carb /venturi..engine not turning over ..guess i have to pull rack..wish was another way

    Clean carbs are a start. Valve clearances if they haven't been checked; do them too.

    ..exactly what i had feared...is my daily ride..further my link to any thing near sanity in my day to day grind..plus now i am faced with mountains of decisions...since they are coming off..the basics i comprehend, such as /bring bike back to regular running before changes be made ..lesson well learned...
    that i abide......

    ..yet i have known the intricate labor known as carb removal..further not had any major set backs at doing carb work/so far...
    always put into that chess game of upgrade.s ..such as i have 82 kz750n1 {also shaft driven..
    with a perfect bank of keheins on it..i would love to ditch these crap hitachis that seca has...i loathe at handle access of throttle works...plus i sort of think them inferior to the flat side kehiens..been looking for a while .now i dont know...

    Hitachi carbs are perfectly fine when you keep them clean tuned, and balanced.

    The constant velocity Hitachi carbs are based on the constant velocity SU carbs, which were exceedingly good at making the Supermarine Spitfire go really freaking fast whilst defending Britan during WW2.

    ..tis all well they did perform as well..otherwise we might live a negative reality..
    ....however, i cant stand that g..dm..thumb throttle ..i inadvertantly {?.}bump on the regular ....which as for my seca she s unstrung aspi_rator. at the word go...

    ...n besides jet changes..n all..they measure up with caliper readings equal between carb on rack and manifold to air box with equal length of entire racks being spot on equal...only need check the throttle cable ends for a match...
