how to check the floaters of the carb

    Hi Chaps,

    I was interested to know wether my floters all do have an identical gauge, but couldn't look inside. So I did use a glass. Filled it with water and a bit of dishwashing detergent.

    After all I saw that all floaters seem to be OK. Everyone has the same gauge.

    interesting way to check that. Why the detergent and not just water??

    i don't see what this proves ?
    if one was cork and another brass, as long as the fuel level in the bowls is the same, and at the right level, everything will work
    damm, thats a nice bike you got

    The idea was to see if one sinks deeper into the water if it is leaky. If so it would get a bit heavier and thus it would sink a bit deeper into the water. This would mean the carb it belnges to would get more petrol.

    Well, one could correct me if this is wrong. Would help others.

    They're solid.
    Made by Robotics and scanned for imperfections by computer.

    Weren't they all right on the line???
    (+/- The weight of oily fingerprints!)

    I think Rick is pulling your leg Ramon! Very enterprising of you to use a glass of water, looks like you thought it out. Besides, a clean float is a happy float. And I'm with Polock, VERY nice bike.

    Hey Robert, yes, I think so. He might pulling my leg. But anyway. They have all the same gauge after my check. And yes. Everybody is telling me what a nice XJ I've got. The point is it is bothering me right now every minute, because after replacing the carb which has been refurnished and has been taken a supersonic bath has been synchronized it is not running well as directly after the replacement 500 km's ago. But that's another thread. Guess I have to switch from beautifying back to technical things again. Arrrrghhh. I thought I simply can ride that bike from now on!

    Not forget to mention that I replaced the floats in the carb by the one I've checked.
