I'd like one as dent and rust free as possible. If you've got one, let's talk

Yep. I started building an 82 Seca 650 to discover an unsalvagable motor. Going to start the process of parting it out tonight. I'll get some pics tonight.

Why not get a 750 maxim tank? It is a direct bolt-on upgrade... Giving a nicer shape and contour line to the bike and also gives you another gal or so of fuel

^ I'd love one, but seems like unobtanium. You got one for me?

    I have:

one that had dents, and needs to be cleaned inside

One that has no key, so I have to get that open first to see about condition

hogfiddles....I'm looking to upgrade as well. I have been looking locally for a while and have only found one that was to far gone. Does the gas cap and petcock transfer over from my 650 tank? I know I would have to plug the fuel sending unit hole. Reason is that I just picked up a new ignition and gas cap with matching key:)

I recently purchased a XJ550 seca tank with a locked fuel cap and was able to pick the lock within 15 minutes just had to keep pressure on the key slot (as if to turn it clockwise) and using a "J" curved pick, worked the 5 pins from the bottom up. Once you've done it a few times you'll find it's really easy, I also unlocked an XJ900 tank that I've had lying around for over two years

The 750 maxim tank is a DIRECT swap.

The cap swaps right over, as does the petcock.

For the sending unit..... They made some tanks with it, and some without it. If you have a tank with it, just wrap the pigtail up and tuck it out of the way. If your tank is missing it the you'll need to make a block-off plate. If your tank didnt come with one, you don't need to do anything other than bolt it on and go ride.

I see you're in Canada.... It's risky enough here to ship a gas tank-- I'm not going to even think about shipping across a border. Ya wanna drive to Utica, NY?

If you do get a 750 tank with a sending unit you might want to make a fuel gauge for it.

The sad part is that I go to Watertown and out around Old Forge regularly in the summer. Utica is not that far away, I may PM you in the spring and see if you still have a 750 tank that is in decent shape:)

Yeah if you come to Watertown a lot… That's only an hour maybe a little bit more from me-I'm sure we could probably arrange something.

If you don't mind waiting till the spring or summer, let's see what we can do.
