So you might think I'm crazy but as a lefty in this right handed world I often find myself pondering thing such as:

"Why are 90% of doors right handed?"
"Should I replace all the scissors in the office with left handed ones just so the righty's can feel my pain?"
"Do I find it easy to read number upside-down due to years spent using measuring tapes?"
"Should I have refused to go to all my college classes because all the writing desks were right handed?"
"Should I get offend at terms such as 'right-hand-man' - 'right-hand-of-god'?"
"Do I go on record that it's me that breaks all those pens at the bank that are tied down on the right side on a chain that doesn't reach the left?"
"Should i beat the next person to death (with a spiral bound notebook) that asks if I'm left handed the moment they see me writing with my left hand?"

As my wife delicately points out the oppression I feel as a left-handed white, middle-class, straight, man is sometimes too much to bear. Thankfully it dawned on me this evening that a motorcycle is quite the fair machine. If you take the widely and subconscious approach to associations of positive and negative the right side of the bike has positive aspects of throttle and the negative aspects of breaks - on the left you also have positive and negative in clutch and shifter which can both speed you up or slow you down. Perhaps this is why I love motorcycles for they don't judge my preferential hand like the rest of this cruel hard world.

A well thought out and reasoned argument. A motorcycle is indeed a democratic and inclusive machine, and a great social equalizer.
Congratulations on achieving that happy state where one is drunk enough to think the deep thoughts, but still sober enough to share them coherently.

left hand is the hand of the devil.
you must not have attended a catholic school they would have taught you to use your right hand to write.

Just be happy that lefties are no longer viewed as being servants of the devil.

The persecution of my fellow brothers and sisters as witches and warlocks fuels my passion to re-hang doors.

I have worked in construction for over 20 years. I am left handed. Right hand swing doors can also be referred to as Left Hand Reverse*. So there you go.
My father is a also lefty, and he tried like hell to get me to switch and write with the other hand. Never took, though it screwed me up enough to convince me to learn to type as early as I could.

*there are caveats to this, specifically which direction traffic is intended (by the designer) to pass through the opening

In my house I have more pocket doors than anything else, so they are equally a PITA no matter which hand I use.

You might be more intelligent than you think you are. Left handed people are sought after for high positions. According to science y'all use both sides of the lobes in a way right handers don't.

Usually I think I'm less intelligent than I am so I can second-guess myself and win.

That probably explains why most kangaroos are left handed.

I'm not left handed but my dad was he always said that left handed people always think in their right side of their minds. He would then say left handed people came from bad bum wiping practice.

Being left handed is like having a Canadian girlfriend. Noone believes its real, but everyone is fascinated to know if it feels any different.

I dated a girl from Louisiana who's aunt, upon meeting me and finding out I was lefthanded, encouraged me to go to a casino with her because she thought lefties had "powers" and could predict which slot machines would pay out. I am still working for a living, in case you are wondering...

I'm a lefty too, I worked for a painter years ago and 4 of us were on one side of a building working. The owner came by and said I cann't believe 3 of you are left handed! True story, I shoot a gun left handed and shoot a compound bow right hand. Sometimes being a lefty has its advantages, most of the time using right had tools, you just have to make them work.

My recollection of Canadian women is that they tend to smell of either maple syrup, or poutine.

Being a bit further west; we're expecting a blizzard to sweep in Saturday afternoon. Still, it has been warmer than usual here too.

Sorry man - that sucks. You know you still ARE a leftie regardless of what others forced upon you. What if I threw something at you without you knowing about it - would you catch it with your right or left?

haha - I have a friend that has absolutely no reflexes at all - if you throw something at him he just stands there and let's it hit him - I'm shocked he's alive. He asked me one time for some advice on learning to ride - I just said "don't".

Y'know, it's weird but if something was close enough that it was about to hit my face I would try with my right but if it was still far enough out I would use my left like I'm still left side dominant. And I don't blame mom at all, she knew most things were made for righties lol.
