fuel petcock

    Has anyone replaced the oem petcock with a standard one ? Mines not working...and it's much cheaper than buying the one that runs off vaccum. Can u just cap that off and run a standard on/off/reserve ?

    You can buy a rebuild kit for the one you have. A good non-vacuum petcock (not those $6.00 Chinese, E-bay specials) is only barely cheaper than a new vacuum petcock, and the rebuild kit is less expensive than either.

    What is wrong with the vacuum petcock you have? Have you checked the condition of the vacuum line?

    Well the petcock is leaking around the seals. It won't start on the pri ...only on reserve. And after a few minutes it floods out. Ive also got 4 carb rwvuild kits waiting to be imstalled .vaccum line does look weathered a bit...I'll change that out.

    check the internal filter in the gas tank it is part of the petcock sounds like it may need to be cleaned
