    A few months back there was discussion and pix of a product someone had used to spray-on his carbs.

    I'm particularly interested in a coating to be used to make real bad looking Carb Tops look better.

    It wasn't Powder Coat ... but, had a Powder Coat look about it!

    Anybody remember?
    Have a suggestion?

    here they are today
    it is completely fuel-proof, surface prep must be perfect, my bad on the center ones
    but it is a very thin coating (.004") so it won't hide any surface imperfections
    nothing was sandblasted as per instructions

    I used Mothers aluminum paste and 1 hour of rubbing (by hand) got the carbs top to bottom shining like new exhaust pipes. my friends want me to show them how but i am gonna wait a few weeks so i can make them feel more envious.


    IMHO i believe its more rewarding to see the fruits of your labor

    What can you do to prep a surface for and application of the GinKote?

    I want to "De=flake" and try getting-out some of the pitting.

    I read the web page a little bit. Once you get that stuff on right, you're about protected against everything that could possibly come in contact with the Carbs.

    sandblasting is the best, no doubt about it but chrome is tough stuff and that still won't be easy
    imho clean all the rust out of any pits with muratic acid then 80 grit emery to get off any chrome flakes, if the pits are looking too bad jb weld can be used to fill them, i guess solder could also be used on a part that thin too
    then just follow the gunkote instructions
    think brakes, brake fluid doesn't touch this stuff
