    Hello all,
I just became a member on here after I bought my first bike. I ended up getting a 1982 XJ750 Maxim. I bought it on craigslist for pretty cheap, it wasn't running so it was REALLY cheap. But so far I have cleaned up the carbs and inspected the fuel tank. Tanks was clean with NO rust, there is a plus there. Carbs were pretty gummed up, one diaphragm piston and float didn't even move. I got it free and everything looked really good on the inside except for the bowls(duh). But I got it running last summer but unfortunately not completely "roadworthy". I am in the process of rebuilding/mods to the bike. I fear that I have now the "itch to ride". I got divorced last year so now I have TONS of time to fix up the bike and get riding.

I just thought that I would check-in and say hi.

just dont put pods on it. if you must get it running correctly first to eliminate any problems.
then go pod and try to fix the issuses that arise

Sorry let me clarify, by "mods" I mean to fix the mods that the P.O. did to the bike, lots of cut corners mainly in the electrical system. I already took the toggle switch off for the horn which was taped to the side of the handle bars.

Sounds like it needs a good going over and getting rid of PO bugs. Don't forget the brake lines are more than likely expired and the shoes and pads can and will delaminate if they are original.
