Still polishing up the engine, I notcie a drop of gas smelling fluid dripping off one of the carb boot screws. It had dripped on the engine. I keep the bike outside, is it possible it's just condensation, though this was midday in 100 degree weather. Everything seems to be running fine. I took a pick, drips gone now, I wiped it off to see what it smelled like.

Is that the air box side? It looks like it. You should check to make sure you don't have a leaky petcock and or a stuck float valve. Also check your oil to make sure you don't now have gas in the oil.

Otherwise, perhaps the hot weather made the gas in the bowls swell and overflow...doubtful though.

will check it out, we have been hitting 105 for the past couple weeks, indexes near 110-112.

Ok, that is the air box side. It doesn't smell like there is gas in the oil, do I need to chck it another way? Also, this is the only boot that looks like this, and it is also on the side that the bike leans too, if that helps any.

The last time I didn't think there was gas in the oil... there ended up being so much that it almost overflowed the drain pan. It was being sucked into the airbox through the crankcase vent tube and causing my idle to race.

My advice: drain the engine. Paranoia pays.

Hey you, IMOP this is really not looking good. I would defintely check the whole petrol flow from tank down to the carb. And open the carb for sure. It is not a big deal.

Here you got an example what can happen or what could be hidden inside. I guess it is a golden coated carb, isn't it?
