Yeah, I know what you mean...

When I got my Seca, the tires on it were too big even they did fit on the rim.

The Clymer manual gives the size for the front rim in inches but metric for rear (why, I don't know). The front wheel is equivalent to 90/90-19. Some tire companies online have the list of tires for every motorcycle produced. They should be:

    Front - 90/90-19
    Rear - 110/90-18

I'm sure someone will come along and tell you that the bike might handle better with smaller or bigger tires. I just wanted mine as like it was when it rolled off the assembly line back in '81.

By the way, love your avatar! Where did you pull that one off?

That's because Yamaha originally listed them that way in the owner's manual.

I run Bridgestone Spitfire S11's on my Seca - a 90/90-19 front and a 110/90-18 rear - and the bike handles great.

I always go with stock tire size. I've found they fit and handle the best on the stock rims.

    Spitfire on mine, too.

Yeah, but why inches for the front and metric for the rear?

My best guess is that back in those days, they still made front tires using standard measurement and already made the transition to metric for rear wheels.

    Oh well... Just curious.
