I have trouble trying to install the rubber gasket for my xj 550. It is tricky enough to get the head cover off and on with scratching it little own trying to put on a new gasket. I have tried spray tack but it does not hold in place and makes a mess. Does anyone have any suggestions or is there a how-to-video that someone has done?

    make sure groove is clean

if you have to tape it in place as you go around the cover just small stripes

    Get this.

Brush it onto the gasket channel in the vave cover. Insert gasket. Install cover.

DO NOT apply to the gasket face that seats on the head.

No need to buy a different can. Spray some into a paper cup and use an artist's brush to apply it.

^^^ Do this, be sure to let it cure though after you put the gasket in the groove. Makes things much easier.
