Torn valve cover gasket......

    Dummy...I torn the valve cover gasket in one place trying to get it back on. Could I cut about a 16th of the gasket out, at the tear, and fill that area with RTV, silicone rubber, and clamp it down. Or is that asking for trouble. I've seen guys use RTV for complete gaskets before.

    Nobody is stopping you from trying. If it works, it buys you time to get a new one.... If it doesn't, you'll be getting a new one anyway.

    You may see people using rtv for a gasket, but I don't think you'll see anyone here using just rtv for a valve cover gasket-----

    Yea, probably not for that whole gasket. I think I'll be safe and just order another. Way too much work to have to replace it, if it doesn't work.

    Agreed, just get a new one from Chacal. Good pricing and quick shipping. Don't take the chance on it leaking or being difficult on next removal.
