    Need more info...

    You mean a 315?

Also, is it a 29mm shim?

    This confuses me?

Carb Shim? Do you mean Valve Shim? A 290?

sorry guys - I am no where near mechanically minded. when the mechanic at the Yamaha shop said he cannot complete my bike until this part was recieved - he said -shim - I assumed it was carb related. It is on back order & has been for 3 weeks now - with nothing appearing to coming soon I found out today.

    I know he said "He thinks it is a 315" & "shim" & part #1J712169V100 (81 XJ750)

    that is all I know

it drives me nuts when a $5 part is preventing me from enjoying some cruising - all the other parts he needs are in.

If you have access to one of these today - please advise me ASAP - even call me collect if needed 403 381 0015 (Pacific time!) not before 7:30 AM local - thx! (I am a night owl - not a morning bird)

    Yep.
    That's a Valve Adjusting Shim.
It's the Biggest Shim they make for that Bike. 3.15

I have a good idea that I'll be able to get it for you.
So, let's be sure that ... that is exactly ... and ONLY what you need ... because this is a going to be an adventure for just one shim.

Find out if there is anything else you need before I hit the road and go visit the Racing Boys for just one shim ... OK?

I called the Local Yamaha Dealership near me. No gots!

    I can get a 310 and a 320,

Looks like that 315 is going to be an Oddball that we hope somebody has ... otherwise ... special order.

Why not run another shim in there and let it be a little bit loose. Loose is better than Tight ... right???

I'm glad you got hooked-up. I called three places and nobody had it.
That's a pretty plump shim you are putting in there. I wonder if the Cam Lobe is OK.

    There's a 310 and a 320, here, if you need them.

    Good luck with it.
