    Hello guys,

Im experiencing another problem, after a complete carb rebuild my bike ran good. But after a while she started to misfire on one or two cylinders.

So i changed the spark plugs and it became better, nevertheless after a few days i had lot of trouble getting her to run again (hard to start). At the beginning she makes a noise of a sudden combustion but then i can crank her as long as i want she still wont start. If i engage the choke, she starts eventually but runs on 2 maybe 3 cylinders.

Found a symilar post that said that this could be a battery problem, not having enough juice to fire of the coils, and when i connect the battery to a charger in indicates that it is at 100% rather then empty ( but it does charge)

Are these symptoms of a dying battery?

Have you ohmed out your ignition system?
spark plug caps , coils HT (spark plug wires) and primary wires?
    then the pickup coils?

test battery by hooking up a meter to it read voltage 12 volts then when you press the button see if it drops below 10 volts tci will not fire under 9.5 volts
    XJ550 models:
    Pick-up coils:
    650 ohms +/- 20% = 520 ohms to 780 ohms acceptable range
    Ignition Coils
Primary side (input from main wiring harness):
    2.5 ohms +/- 10% = 2.25 ohms - 2.75 ohms acceptable range

Secondary side (spark plug wires, without their end caps):
    11K ohms +/- 20% = 8,800 ohms - 13,200 ohms acceptable range
    Spark plug caps:
    10K +/- 20% = 8,000 to 12,000 ohms per cap acceptable range
    Spark plugs:
    0 ohms per plug

coils and trouble shouting ignition system

test coil primary with meter set to 200 ohms at coils remove gas tank
test secondary with meter set to 20K (remove spark plug caps (boot) first) ,
ohm out your spark plug caps it is not stated in the test. 10k ohms

you can test pickups at tci remove left connector and test black to orange 650 ohms then test same black to gray 650 ohms.

full specs listed here as well as testing your battery if it is starting and running voltage should be 14.5 to 14. 8 volts
The Ultimate Relay, Switch, Sensor, and Diodes Guide

    still using glass fuses?
I see you are from europe your plug caps may be a different spec 5K and 5K for plugs
do you have resistive plugs in the bike?

your specs may be listed in this link

    The Information Overload Hour

good luck we do have a few members here from your side of the ocean who may post your plug and cap specs
