XJ550 Key Relocation

hey I have an 82 XJ550 cafe racer project. Going for a simple clean build and the ignition barrel is pretty ugly on the triple tree I want to relocate it close to the cylinder heads like people do with V-Twin bobbers etc, anyone done this? Is it an easy procedure or a nightmare? Keen to know any pitfalls to look out for. Cheers - Rowan.

 

just buy the wire and connectors and run a harness to where you want it to be. our supporting vendor sells the connectors pins and wire , he may even make the short harness for you for a small fee.

the wires to the ignition switch run from fuse box main fuse to switch, and wire 2 other wires go back to fuse box to the other 3 fuses and to tail lights.
you could unwrap harness and bring them down to where you want them.

only pit fall is you lose the ability to lock forks and make the bike real easy to steal.
