    Hello.

I just wanted to introduce myself.
I´ve bought XJ 650 -82 couple months ago. I´ve searched cheap target to build
a caferacer, or a scrambler, well i finally find this XJ....

I´m about to disassemble a hole bike, then make a few modifications for chassis, then sandblast it and powdercoat it.

I have had several bikes before, but this XJ is new to me, and i don´t know anything about it...

I have made my decision...this bike will be a scrambler.

Nice choice in terms of format. Be mindful that you won't be able to raise the ride height much because of the u-joint angle.

General reading about your new machine:

The Information Overload Hour covers all of the big issues taht you need to address before heading out on the road. We reccomend that you make the bike run well in stock configuration before doing any modifications, and that you retain and use the factory airbox.

Thank you for good information sources!

Well see what kind of tragedy factory airbox removing is...i will try pod filters, because i need free space where to hide other items. :)

Carefully remove the airbox without damaging it.
    Put it in your closet.
Odds are good that you will either:
    1) want to put it back on
    2) can sell it for a decent price to someone who desperately wants to put it on their bike

Pods look cool, but impact the smooth performance of an XJ in a negative way.

There are other spots on the bike to put things.

Well, i will disassemble the hole bike, so i have a good chance to remove it without damage.

Is there something really special on this bike carbs, and that is the reason why the bike won´t work properly with pods??
Usually pods are ok, if carbs have bigger jets etc....

Pods are fine on carbs that have cable-operated slides. The will not work correctly with CV carbs, even when rejetted. CV carbs require some form of air box or velocity stack to ensure that the slides move smoothly and at the correct rate.
