    Hi Guys,

Been riding my 700 for about a week now, and I notice that when I really go hard, giving it wot, the revs fly up to fast. Now the speedometer also goes up, but not nearly as it should in reference to how high the tach shoots up and the sound of high revs. Its almost as if under full power the clutch slips but then after about a second will grab again. What do you guys suspect, an internal clutch issue, or a matter of adjusting my clutch cable.

    Thanks, Chief

What type oil are you using? Have you serviced the clutch?

If engine rpm increases rapidly when you whack the throttle open, and your ground speed does not increase dramatically, then your clutch is slipping.
If you have never put new clutch plates in, then it's safe to assume that they are the original plates. Change them. Oil can also be a factor (see the link in my signature).

Bike has 46,000 miles on it, I run silkolene 20w 50 motorcycle oil. I think K-moe nailed it on the head, this clutch probably has a bunch of miles on it. Is there a write up on changing the clutch? And what should I expect to pay for a clutch kit?

Rocs, what do you mean by servicing the clutch? Preventative maintenance or repairing the clutch?
