    Hello there folks,

In the shop I manage there is a 1985 Maxim XJ700N completely torn apart for a customer, and to put it back together we need piston rings. Part number is 1FG-11610-00-00. I have searched to my wits end to no avail. I'm asking for any assistance you might be able to provide. Thanks!

from what I understand, the rings are no longer available for the 85 xj700. seems I read that somewhere on here and it stuck since i have that bike as well.

Good luck dude. I had to pull rings off my parts motor. I have 6 remaining + 2 slightly bent. You could probably talk me in to parting with them...

Over here I can walk into a local engine reconditioner and they can either make me rings or find something similar that will fit

There must be other bikes which share the same size bore which will have rings that can be used

A machine shop can easily do them, but if someone can post the measure of those I could make me a set just in case...

Send them back and try something else. There must be a more common 8-valve bike that uses 65 (or 66)mm bores that will fit. Quick google shows CB750 'big bore kits' are 65mm - worth buying a scrap CB750 piston (or ask on a forum) for pin to crown dimension. Where there's a will..

Might be easier to find a spare engine or look north of the border for a 750 engine
The 1AA part number is for the X model water cooler engine
So you have the air cooled 700 yes?

An XJ700 is a destroked XJ750. I am not positive that the 750 piston rings will work on the 700 pistons, but I'm sure someone will come along (now that I've posted) and tell us.

I also searched this information. I've compare pistons and rings of xj700 and xj750. Two upper rings in xj750 are 0,2mm thicker than xj700 (1,2mm / 1mm). Piston of xj700 is more convex (higher compression ratio).
