xj550 build

    just picked up a 82 xj 550, should havethe motor and everything stripped down tomorow and build it my way from the ground up. my question is do they make a hardtail kit ready to weld on to these like the xs650? plannimg on building a bobber. got a sportster tank to i am going to try fabbing up to fit. still got along way to go. sorry for my bad spelling and grammar on my junk phone and its been a long night lol. thanks guys

    use some angle iron to replace the shocks then if you do not like how it rides you can put the shocks back on

    Motors ready to come out, looks like im going to have to pull the front oil tank i guess it is to get enough clearance to yank the motor??? Will be ordering carb kits and a hardtail kit soon

    what are you going to do to the exhaust? I have a 4 to 1 exhaust if you want to trade.

    You mean the oil filter? Yes, has to come off.
    Be prepared for a lot of oil coming out of there, even if you drained the oil before.

    Looks like you still have the wiring harness on there as well as coils etc. Take that off first, less stuff hanging around that could get could.

    all that it came with is the 4 pipes going down, no mufflers or anything

    i guess its the oil filter lol just loosened it and oil came pouring out so put it back on for now. i will get the wire harness off to thanks for the heads up. really my first bike build. i have owned a few but never built one!!
