Out in Cottam (between essex and leamington). Been thinking about getting some buddies together for a "Post-Apocalyptic" ride on December 22, provided we're all still here. Might be a little chilly, but if the world ends it might be a lot warmer too haha. Anyone interested?

I just bought a 1982 xj650 seca. Im new here and this is my second bike. I cant seem to unlock the seat so i can check the air filter. Need help. The key cover is on the left side . I tried turning the key but the seat wont lift. Anything Im missing or do I just pry the seat after turning the key clockwise?

2ron2dude there is a lever to the right of the key (When looking at the side of the bike) that you have to release when you turn the key to get the seat to lift up. it should be behind the side handle for the passenger.

Im up near kincardine ON with my 83 750 seca but once my new job starts in another month ill be touring back and forth to Brampton, once I get my bike insured this spring ill be up for meeting up with some fellow xj'ers

PS Awesome winding road riding around lake Huron and Georgian Bay. If you want an awesome day or weekend of riding I strongly recommend doing the Port Elgin, Sauble Beach, Tobemory, Wiarton, Owensound circuit.

I did it one weekend with the wife as an anniversary adventure with some added riding on the fathers 1100 vstar we put in 900km's

for the extreme adventure you could follow hwy 26 around from owen sound to wasaga beach before taking the highways home.

If you're going as far as Tobermory, isn't everything pretty much north of Sauble Beach gravel? I seem to remember from my Manitoulin Island trip on the Norton that the pavement ran out once you got onto the peninsula.

I'm going to try to make the CVMG meet in Paris in June; if not, PD13 is in September this year.

there are some specific routes you have to avoid if you don't want to take gravel. some of the roads on the west side of the peninsula are gravel north of Red Bay. then you have to cut over the the hwy and go up the rest of the way on 6, but on the east side through lions head is paved along with grey rd 1 out of wiarton along georgian bay.

Man, I gotta get back up there on two wheels again. Manitoulin feels like the edge of the earth, what a place.

If all goes well, I'm planning to ride north on highway 69 to my cottage just south of the French River ( between Parry Sound and Sudbury ) with a return trip across to Highway 11 south. A great combination of highway and paved winding roads in Central Ontario.

Wake me when winter ends :)

Out East (Newfoundland). That's where I'm originally from, not nearly as much riding time but the Seca will be coming with me, should the Family and I leave... Just ordered my tires, it will soon be time to ride!

Where about down east? My son is being transferred to CFB Gagetown NB some time in the next 12 months. The best the military could tell him is that he will be there by June of 2014.

This is a definite move he's being moved because the guy he's replacing is being moved to replace a retiring specialist in the same field. Just depends on if the guy takes off early due to banked time or just takes the cash when he leaves the service.

Hey. I'm new to this group and my 81 XJ750 Seca. Bought it as a "project " bike. Now certified and on the road after replacing brakes, all fluids, seals and some repainting. Changed bars to clubmans and huge difference in comfort and handling. I'd recommend this to any with same bike. I have a couple of issues. (lots, actually, but only a couple that are bike related...)
    1. I have no low end power under 2000rpm. After the bike warms up, I can barely keep it running at idle. Once she dies, it won't restart until cooling off. I've checked pilot and they're clear. choke doesn't seem to be sticking and when I open the choke at low idle once it's warm, it makes NO difference in keeping the bike running. Fuel petcock works fine at both ON and PRIME positions so I'm getting fuel. I also changed the plugs. Made a minor improvement for a couple rides, then back to same issue.
Almost seems like I'm flooding it, but there's no gas smell.
Any similar experience or suggestions ?
Also, front brakes very spongy. I've bled them a couple times, changed pads and even cracked the banjo bolts under positive pressure to get rid of all potential air pockets. Maybe these brakes were never very firm..
    Thanks

BTW - I'm in South Mississauga (Clarkson).

I'm going to check valves on the weekend. Maybe do a carb cleaning. I'm up for riding. We just joined Oakville chpter of Golden Horseshoe Riding Club. If you're interested check them out. Very social people and ride every week. I need to get my bike reliable before I venture on long rides.

Hey folks - '86 Maxim-X (Madame-X) owner here. Very lucky to find one in pristine condition in 2013 with only 16k in the Vaughn area, but I'm in Waterloo. Bike was originally purchased in '88 by someone in Vittoria ON, close to Brantford and Simcoe, where I was actually born and raised - ironic. Here she is from 2013, and on my way to the Ride for Sight 2015: Maxim-X1.jpg X.jpg rideforsight2015-1.jpg

Hello, new to the forum. Picked up my 1982 XJ750 SECA in September....Rode it home for $400; however, it was someone else's project and required a complete tear down.

I'm from the Windsor Essex County Area.
