I don't like to walk far, so I have my kids ride their bikes to swimming lessons and I ride behind them. Well tonight on the way home I went to quickly scoot around them and had to slow down due to a minivan pulling out right in front of the kids, they stopped all was well for them, my rear wheel was on that black filler when I hit the brakes and it locked up and slid like a dirtbike on wet grass. Held on till I could straighten it out then was able to keep going. what a rush! Don't want to do that again. lol

So remember those that crack filler crap with the new season...lol

I was glad to see our street sweeper out today picking up the sand from winter road treatments. Have to corner carefully until the sand is gone.

I f 'n hate tar strips. They are gooey on hot days and always in the wrong place on the road like the apex of a curve. Be careful out there my friends.

tar snakes suck thats the only time i have slid in a corner was on one of those. for not locking up the wheel assuming that the brake maintained right and the tired isnt bold i dont know if there is anything you could really do to prevent it but try to use the front brake more

Practicing brake control and awareness skills has to happen first-thing every season.

This was a good reminder for me about summer hazards, and like cgutz said too need to look out for loose gravel. We have a nice steep "S" curve hill here, only problem with it is it's always got loose gravel on it, cars even go over the side in the summer, good thing it's not a far drop, only about 10 feet so it's normally just pride that gets hurt like one of my sons friends experienced rushing to work...lol,,, turtled his hyundae...lol he was fine though...
