So I have had an XS400k for a few months now and am ready for a bigger bike, I got my learning out of the way riding it every day.

I found this XJ700 on craigslist and I think I'm going to go buy it tonight or tomorrow...

I was wondering if anybody had experience with these. It seems perfect for me and a lot faster than my 400.

MORE PICS AT BOTTOM OF PAGE!!!!

Whoa... I went and looked at it last night and this thing is the cleanest 22 year old bike I've ever seen. So I bought it. The pic does not do it justice AT ALL. Lots of chrome. He wass asking 1200 and I think that is pretty damn fair.

Good deal for sure! Careful... it moves out like a sport bike above 7000 rpm!

Re: I think I'm going to buy this 1985 XJ 700...

That's what I hear! I've been looking around at reviews and stuff and everyone says it is a cruiser with the heart of a sport bike. I'm pretty excited to get it home and running. It needs a new main fuse...

On that note, does anyone know what type of fuse and what AMP-age(20 or 30? maybe) the main fuse is in a 1985 xj700? I have a thread in 'chat' about it...

FinnogAngela thank you for that diagram and the links!! that helps a lot.

I was going to order the XJ cd in the next couple days. It's nice to be a real XJ owner and not just a wannabe XS owner haha.

I have a feeling you'll love the bike. I got my 550 Maxim running like new now and it is soooo much fun. And rather fast for a 550. Post back if you have questions, it's what we're here for. :D

    Enjoy.

Re: I think I'm going to buy this 1985 XJ 700... UPDATE PICS

Well, when I'm riding it runs amazing... super fast. The only problem is the idle when I'm stopped. It sputters out after 10 seconds or so, I tried to adjust the idle but it just goes to the idle I set it at and then goes down to 1k and then sputters...

I've taken it for a few spins and I just give it a tiny bit of gas at lights. Other than that it runs really well.
