I'm working on replacing the fuse box on my new XJ650, and this bike is turning into a real horrorshow.

I've found a hose, about 2 feet long, running from the battery area to the rear wheel. Both ends are disconnected, but it is held in place by a clip on the frame in front of the rear wheel. What is it? Where should it be connected?

Anyway, I'm off to find more wire and connectors...

From your description,it would seem to be the battery vent hose.

That's the battery backup power line to the rear wheel. LOL

Actually, that's the battery vent line. There should be a connection for it on the battery, unless you are using a maintenance free battery.

If your battery has a Vent ... attach that hose to the Vent on the side of the Battery.

If your Battery is Maintenance Free and Sealed. You can either remove the hose or tuck the end under the Battery for use in the future should you buy a Battery requiring a Vent hose.

Thanks for identifying it, that would seem to be right. I found a routing diagram stuck to the inside of the fairing as I was reassembling. Wouldn't want to be without the rear wheel battery backup...lol
