Hi xjers i am hoping someone can tell me why when i start my bike (xj750rl) the tacho only hovers around 1000 revs even when you revit up, i have noticed the ecu which has been replaced has fzr marked on it. So i am thinking that the rev counter is powered by pulses from the ecu and the fzr box is possibly not suitable for an xj. Your thoughts would be much appreciated. Dave.

Possible....but it is possible wires need checked, the tach gets input from the coils located under fuel tank. You will need to pull off the bike to get a real good look . Check coils for cracks. My xj750 Seca my tack would not rev even though engine did as high as i know it did. I pulled off the cluster back cover and removed the tach, sprayed the circuit board with contact cleaner , and sprayed the mechanism with WD40 put it back in wow tach worked great responded as I opened throttle..give it a try

Cheers for that jetfixer i bought the bike in parts i havnt got around to putting tank on yet, i will recheck wires around coils the engine runs so ecu is probably ok. I will also do the guage clean and see if that works. I have been trying to balance carbs this is proving very difficult its possibly the yics system making it more difficult. Once again cheers for info. Dave.

Read read read and read some more all of the posts. Kmoe, big fitz, and many others have very valuable info. Chacal ie xj4ever has all the correct parts you will need. I have posted mounting Honda CB 750 coils if yours are cracked this is a cheap change lots on ebay for 25$ or so advantage they will mount in stock location and have removable plug wires. I'm working on my carbs too I will see if my experiment works this week. The previous owner put a K&N filter in the airbox does not fit quite right , so I'm putting in a stock air filter. My bike runs strong but I will see ? One thing i will add if your bike has stock airbox leave it in ...pods can be hard to tune right. Good luck

OK. I looked yp the FZR TCI. IT is definitely not suitable for an XJ750. You want the below TCI get the ignition timing correct for your engine. 5G2-10 is the important bit.

Thanks k-moe for the info i have spotted an upgrade unit on ebay made by carmo as my bike is closer to an xj900 than an xj750 i have checked the
numbers on my unit they are T1D14-39
    1AE-10
Made by hitachi. I dont think this is the correct unit but it does work. Whats your thoughts?
