    Hey guys,
so now that my bike is running
I want to make it more reliable..
I'd like to change the fusebox.. Just wondering.. where should I be looking?
What should I be looking for?
Is there a bad fusebox holder I can replace this awful one with?

The box that chacal has is just what you're looking for. It's nice he provides the appropriate fuses with the box. My new one just arrived from TJ Techcentre on eBay--good shipping cost to Canada though you'll need to get fuses as well. If you have a marine supply store nearby that might be an option too. Can't wait to put it in tomorrow!

Thanks goser.....also, I have the "position decal" available (that shows which fuse is which, what the amp rating of that circuit is, and also what the lead wire colors are for that circuit) that you apply over the clear fusbox cover---very handy to have. And a die-cut bottom gasket, since these fuseboxes are "open" on the base and that kinda defeats the "waterproof" feature of the box greatly.

Also, be aware that these boxes are a somewhat-to-very tight "fit" under the seat pans of these XJ models.....you might have to do some trial-fitting before you find the position where the fusebox fits on top of the air cleaner cover, but doesn't hit the cast-in ribs on the bottom of the seat pan.

You will also find that you'll have to extend the stock wiring harness leads both to and from the fusebox with about 6-8" of extra wire. BIG HINT: go to an auto or cycle wrecking yard (parts stores don't carry tracer wire) and cut off the needed length of the PROPER COLOR CODED WIRES to use as these "splice" wires.....that way, you'll keep the correct color-coded "tracer" leads at the fusebox...useful for troubleshooting down the road (the two wires you'll need are red with a white tracer stripe, and red with a yellow tracer stripe---for most XJ models, check yours to be certain). Plus it looks really cool and factory that way.

And please also notice that the solid brown wire is one or two guages THICKER on one side of the fusebox than on the other...........

Thank you so much for the offer!
But I like to support the local guy... And I was in a bit of a hurry to get it replaced!
So I went to my local electronics store, mom and pop operation..
Got some fuses and a block made the connections..

If I ever need anything else I'll definitely give you a shout though Chacal!

In fact, how about a fuel line? Clear? vaccum hose? Fuel filter?
