I just got done adjusting the valves on my xj550. All my valves now have a size 265 or smaller shim. I have one 270 shim.

Am I right in guessing that I will never need the 270 since valves will only tighten over time, hence using thinner and thinner shims? Do valves ever "go back up" in shim size?

I ask because if I will never use the 270, I will donate it to someone here that can use it.

Thanks, this is a great site

yes the shims should always go thinner as the valves pound into the seats, if you need to put that 270 back in you have some sort of problem or incorrectly measured.
there is someone looking for 270 in the wanted threads he is in Canada

    Wanted 270 valve shims
