I bought an 82 650 maxim basketcase 3 weeks ago from a friend as a favor basically for $350 been working on it and playing around with it and like it and everything but I just found an 82 maxim 1100 about 25 min from my house. Im a firm believer in bigger is better and its a decent deal in my sight. 550obo new CDI box, tires, calipers rebuilt 2 yrs ago. Ran last yr, not getting spark now. Im thinking about getting it and fixing both up and selling one. I don't know.

The point is I don't hear alot about the 1100 maxims and was wondering what the general opinion of them was

Saw one the other day (was actually an XS1100, but same motor) that had over 100k miles on it, so I'd say they're pretty stout. I've actually been keeping my eyes open for one around here, but they're not near as common as the 550/650/750's. I'd say jump on it if it looks like it's in decent shape and all complete!

Get it and decide which you like better, then sell the less desirable one off. Easy peezy.
