Hey all! Ive had my 1982 xj1100 a little over a year now, put close to 3500v on it. It came to me with 16000 miles on it, gummed up carbs and a nice coat of dust. Shortly after getting her, I sent her to a local motorcycle guru to go through the carbs and generally get her ready for riding season after sitting almost 10 years. Shortly after beginning riding, the seat cover let go, so i cut down the foam and recovered it with some black vinyl have done some minor things to clean up the looks, like relocating the license plate, swapping out for after market turn signals, and adding the home made sissy bar where I'm assuming the luggage rack used to bolt (I needed a place to tie my lunchbox to when taking her to work) When I can ill post more pictures of her before! Thanks for the awesome forum! Im looking forward to lots of information!

Welcome from another happy XJ1100 owner. (I have three :) ). The last one I picked up had only 3200 miles on it! Sat in a garage for 15 years. I can't believe that some one would put these bikes away and not ride them (although I'm glad they did). First thing my wife said when she saw it was "That one is mine". Like yours it had a layer of dust and the carbs were all gummed up. One Saturday of cleaning and replacing fluids she fired right up. These are great bikes!

That has to be extremely loud running with out a muffler. How is it running with that setup?

I have put them back on since then... it sounded amazing, but I put them back on because i was worried about toasting a valve with no back pressure
