Alright, I have the bike cranking over now. the starter solenoid is connected to the m-unit "Start output" via the R/W wire and the L/W is connected to ground. This results in the bike being able to crank the starter whenever the start button is pushed.

If I were to connect the neutral switch and sidestand switch in series with the L/W wire to ground, then I would be able to only crank the engine in neutral with the side stand up, correct?
If I were to connect the clutch switch in parallel to the neutral switch and sidestand switch, then I could crank the engine in any gear as long as the clutch is engaged, correct?

There are a bunch of ways to do it. You can have the safety features setup between the TCI and the m-unit or having it coming off the Start output. I have it setup between the TCI and the m-unit. This way the kill switch still works and you can crank the motor with the TCI disabled.

If you want the closest to stock safety features then follow this diagram. http://www.xjbikes.com/forums/threads/xj650-brat-tracker.71544/page-2#post-513268
