Welcome to the wiring mess of the xj bike, I just redid all of my wiring there is a post on the site somewhere that has the process and wiring diagram to make figuring out the wires easier as well as what ones are "extra" as it were.

Just don't make my mistake and accidentally cut off the ground wire to the starter switch, talk about a long frustrating few hours trying to start the bike

po of my seca drilled a hole in the frame to hook up a ground wire to twist to the wire for his starter button when the button fell off

. .. ... .... Interesting hmmm shouldent be too hard to find a different button or someone who is parting stuff like that out, or if your feeling frisky move the start button and install your own momentary switch I plan on moving my starter switch to a different spot after I move my ignition to clean up the clutter up front

or you can buy the replacment internal switch set up from www.xj4ever.com or just the button and spring if the po has not cut the wire

there is a nice switch that you can install in the handle bars you drill a hole tap and install.

of course there are many momentary switches you could install in the button hole too

Was planning on a more hidden setup you know I forget my key sometimes lol, but keeping it looking factory is also nice

Get a replacement harness, and Atari. Hook it back up the right way.

That's really nice. Think of ALL the time and effort and money he saved by doing that all by himself, instead of buying a replacement pushbutton.......
