I recently swapped my 83xj650 into my xj750 frame(tore second gear in the 7)
Turned it on and now the idle jumps around and after I let off it takes a little to settle down to idle if it doesn't just stay up
I've lubed all my moving parts and cables there's no visible lag of the butterflies. I got new diaphragms and intake boots thinking it was an air leak in those but still the same issue
It's already caused me to crash once so any help would be greatly appreciated

The 650 motor didn't come with one, and I'm pretty sure I'm using an xj900 tdi would that cause my issue?

The 650 and 750 use the same TCI

The XJ900 TCI is different, and does not have the same timing or advance curve.

Get the correct TCI for your engine, and don't ride again until you do.

There still may be some other problem causing the hanging idle, but having the wrong TCI installed isn't helping.

    OK then.

The most common cause of a hanging idle is a vccum leak.
Grab a can of carb cleaner. Let the bike idle where it will, and begin methodically spraying down components one-at-a-time. Start with the throttle shaft seals, then work your way forward to the intake boots (including the gasket at the head, and the vacuum caps).
Spray, wait, spray. It can take a few moments for the carb cleaner to get pulled in though a crack.

I've been spraying carb cleaner the shaft seals are these c clip things right? Nothing at the boots or intake gaskets I'm getting a little reaction from the right side throttle seal no where else if I push on it the idle goes up a little too

Are you talking about the XJ4Ever catalog from the link at the top right of the page? If so, just start a conversation with member Chacal.

Daytona Beach huh....I love Daytona Beach. I've vacationed there several times.

If your getting new shaft seal you should also get fuel rail o right and a new fuel T.

Th o-rings are a good idea, but he won't need a new fuel T. The 650 and 750 have o-rings on the fuel T, instead of having that funny T the 550's have.

Yeah I had to have my 550 carbs machined to accept o rings to put a new t into it haha way harder than just replacing the o rings like on the 550
Oh yeah I own 2 750s , 2 650s, and 1 550 I really like the xj family they're solid bikes that can take take a beating they'd probably last me longer if I wasn't so prone to smashing into things

    Yes
    I have a sync
They are all at the same vac level
But I have a question about the actual level (number) I'm up by 5 the only other one I saw was at 8
Haven't needed it for the others
That's directly related to the idle right?

Vacuum level relates to the compression on the cylinder being checked. There is no set amount of vacuum that you need to see, but there are general guidelines about how vacuum relates to engine health. http://www.secondchancegarage.com/public/186.cfm
Scenario three describes a healthy state for our engines, but the amount ov vacuum seen is not typically as high.
