    Hey everyone,
Was doing an engine rebuild and was messing with the timing and now I have no neutral.... no power to the starter solenoid and when the bike should be in neutral the tire spins when I try to hot wire it. So I'm guessing it's the neutral switch but I'm not sure. Anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Kris

Is the sky-blue wire connected to the neutral switch?

Unhook it and see if the neutral light comes on when you connect the wire to ground, and if you can thumb the starter then.

Yes, the light turns on when sb is grounded.

Then the nutral switch is not working. More likely it's stuck, but failures have occured.

You can try running Seafoam in the oil to free up the switch. Keeping the wire grounded effectuvely bypasses the neutral safety circuit, but I only recommend doing that as a temporary measure.

In other words, you suggest replacing the neutral switch?

I suggest trying to clean the switch without taking it out since it is not exactly an easy job with the engine in the frame.
If that does not work, then you will have to remove the switch, clean it, test it, and replace it if it does not test as good.
