I got them from Len 8 years ago. A couple years ago one carb was spilling gas after the first ride of the season. I drained that carb and let it fill up with the tap set to prime for a few minutes. It would leak if I started it with the bowl empty. Letting it sit on prime got it fixed. Now another one is leaking. It drained my nearly full tank when I accidentally left it on prime when I started it cold after sitting a few weeks.

I took everything apart and it was all clean. I have the inline filter from Len. I went to gently wipe the tips of the needles with a clean rag and they were all very loose. They have a super fine, uneven lines around the rubber part where it sits in the seat. Is this normal? Some of the pins the floats ride on are a little worn and flaky looking but clean and rust free from when I rebuilt the carbs 8 years ago. One carb leaked with a smooth pin a couple years ago and the last one has a rough looking(like a flaky piece of slate) pin. Also, I noticed on Lens parts list that he has all metal needles. I have rubber tips and live where ethanol is added to all gas. Is it time for new needle and seats already? I have 8 years and 7300 miles on them. Are there any tricks I can do to get more time out of them?

The viton tips age, and do need to be replaced after several years of use. The all-brass float needles have been highly spoken of by those who have used them, and should never need to be replaced.

I am running the all brass needles , The only thing about using them is they are possibly shorter than the viton tipped needles, hense the floats will need adjusted . With the crap gas we get now , feel better with these in my carbs. I got mine from xj4ever ( Chacal) worth every penny!!!!

    Which bike?

    1. Some only get rubber-tipped ones......
    2. There are some needles that have to be installed with the needle hanger-spring oriented a particular way otherwise there are leaking issues that have come up

I have the brass needles and recommend them if they are available. Chacal will know.
