What does the battery voltage drop to when you press the starter button?

Rebuilding a 30+ year old starter is never a bad idea.

I remove the battery and starter to get it looked at at Advance Automotive to see if they were bad. Following them testing the starter and battery they were both in good working order but the battery as show in the picture is a piece of shit. I'm going to upgrade to a gel battery with a higher cranking amps.

I don't see why you think that battery is no good; if it tested OK then there is another problem elsewhere. I run conventional type batteries like that in lots of stuff and never ever wish for a sealed unit. In actuality, I prefer these types as I can monitor and manage the electrolyte level as needed, which isn't an option in sealed or gel-type batteries.

It is possible for a starter to spin over freely, if it has no "load" on it . The brushes wear down and need replaced at some point. The overhaul kits are cheap .

I charged the battery at 100 percent and it sat for a week, yesterday it was at zero percent. The battery is showing 12 volts when charged plus it keeps leaking and it is not over filled. I have to charge the battery every time I start the bike.

    Your preference is your preference.

Well it sounds like your battery is garbage haha, I was just going by the test that Advanced Auto did that it supposedly passed. If it is draining that fast, it is by all means no good anymore.

I don't want to high jack this thread but that is why i'm upgrading to a gel battery and it has more crank power.
