Carb reinstall on XJ700

    Hi, I just bought a 86 xj700maxim. I removed the carbs (which sucked to do) to clean them. And now Im trying to reinstall them, which isnt really easy......I cant get the carbs to in the boots of the engine...And then Im going to have to figure out how to put the airbox boots.... Any tips????

    A smear of grease, oil, k-y jelly, or Vaseline on the boots, and a hot air gun to warm up the rubber.

    roll them in from one side instead of trying to push all 4 in at same time

    I used a ratchet strap. Just lube the boots a little, line them up to the carbs, and slowly ratchet the strap. Mine popped right on. Works great to remove carbs too. Learned this from another member somewhere on here. Can't remember who it was tho

    I had to have my wife help me. Once one side was in I had her hold that tight so I could push in the other. That and plenty of pb blaster.

    Water based or silicone sex lube helps.

    I use a similar technique except I use the squeeze type wood clamps
