Well I finally got the bad boy running. I rode the bike for two weeks illegally but it was fun. I notice that when I initally run the bike it runs great even after riding for a while. If I let it sit for a little bit it starts to run kinda funny like it's missing or not getting enough fuel in the lower RPM range. Once it gets around 3 or 4 grand it runs smooth, but If I get on it, it pulses seeming like it's not getting enough fuel. I mess with the petcock switch and it doesn't matter what position it is in. I know there is plenty of fuel coming from it, and this is with a full tank of gas. I've replaced the fuse panel, and brushes. Is this maybe an electrical issue, or is it a carb issue, or maybe something completely different? I have rebuilt the carbs and retuned the bike. Also it idles around 1500 and I can't get it any lower. So when I tuned the bike it was tuned at around 1500, so maybe that has something to do with it. It runs great when it is running good. Any input would be nice.

    Thanks

When you say retuned, what exaclty do you mean? Did you synch the carbs? Fiddle with the mixture screws? Colortune?

Yes I synced the carbs, and then colortuned the bike. I rode it into work today and it is still having the issue. Only seems to be at lower RPM's. I wanna say it could be an electrical issue. Because the blinkers blink when its between 4 grand and 6 grand, but not any lower. The light also dim pretty good too at lower RPM's. Like I said before I did replace the brushes already. Any thoughts?

Get a volt meter and check your voltages at the battery at idle and then see what the voltage does as you increase the rpm.

Pull the plug on the regulator and check for burnt/corroded wires or connectors. Actually check all your connectors for same problems as well as the fuse block. Is the battery new, charged, fluid level up, load tested?

The battery is brand new, and I put a sealed battery in so i didn't have to worry about the fluid. I checked the fuses, and all connections at the fuse block look good. I'll check the connections and voltage.

I ended up cleaning all my connection (ground wires, and battery connections). Seemed to fix the issue.

Sounds like you need a Pit Stop for a Dial-in.

You're starting to pull Main Jet Fuel when the Idle goes over 1200.

You need to get the Idle Rod turned Out and get so that you can get your Pilots doing the Idle for you.

Just out of curiosity ... yank the plugs and see whats happening. Shoot us a pic and we'll have a handle on whats going on for you.
