Moto Madness!

    A week after getting rear ended on the xj650, i settled with the insurance company, straightened my fender, put on new tires and rode the to the 2nd Moto-madness dirt oval track event in Owatanna, over the weekend!

    Weeew!

    I had a lot of fun, but for a track rally it was pretty disorganized. It was an open dirt track free-for-all, and although it claimed to be a motorcycle event, a lot of quads and even a couple razors showed up too. At one point a full sized jeep was on the track! WTF!?

    Conditions were sweltering, dusty and windy. Donations were taken for a water truck to come dowse the track, and right when he showed up, mayhem ensued. After only 1 pass, 20+ riders were on the track. Racer types on dirt bikes were flying, and drunk dudes on street tires were going way too fast because, duh!... After 3 passes the water truck was still on the track It was already wet and pretty shady on my street tires.

    Then, with the water truck still on the track, & with probably 20-30 riders out there..One guy came into the corner too hot, dumped his bike and narrowly missed hitting the water truck... I guess he was knocked out, broke his collar bone and ankle. At this point the track owners showed up (seemingly unaware there was a motorcycle dirt track event being held) and the dirt track rally was over.. but the party wasn't. We were allowed to stay and camp overnight, but no more dirt trackin.. People were gettin drunk and roudy.. I heard somone shagged in the gross biffy, and also heard another guy choked one of the event organizers... jeez!

    All in all, pretty standard for a motor cycle event.. right?! :)

    Before they shut the track down i got in a good 20 laps or so and had a complete blast.

    Heres the XJ all did up for touring, & with a little leftover mud too... Wew!
