I purchased 3 wire lights the first time I had to replace one. You can just leave the extra wire loose or hook it up as an extra running light. If I recall correctly, I left mine disconnected, but ran it through to the headlight bucket in case I wanted to change things in the future. However, I wouldn't bother if I had to do it over again, as it was a pain to get three wires through the passage.

if you just go for the single light make sure it is the brighter one.
hook up 2 wires to your original wiring ground wire and a power wire thats the directionals
now your choice do you want running lights or additional brake lights?
if it is running lights you will need to tap into the rear tail light wire for the rear lights
if brake lights tap into the brake light wire.

if you want running lights up front you will need to run the extra wire back to the head light relay output wire it is the wire that runs to the high low switch.
tap into that and the lights will come on with the head light
