It's always good to remember, and learn about where others were, and what this day now means to all of us.

6 Years ago I was packing up my Kaw ZX6 to follow a job opportunity in Philadelphia. Didn't get on the road until 12-12:30 in the afternoon.

I was driving Semi and was to Deliver at the docks in NJ and I was just about to jump the Pa line into NJ when I got a phone call from my Travel Agent and he told me what was going on and told me to turn it around and come back to Pittsburgh cause they shut the docks down till ferther notice. I call the wife at wok and told her what was happening and said i will be home tonight. When I got there we watched the tv in horror and we both prayed and cryed for all the peaple lost on the day.
SO SOMETIME TODAY TAKE A MOMENT OF SILENCE AND REMEMBER THAT DAY!! !!!!!!GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!!

I was sitting waiting for my 8am class to start in college and someone popped their head in to tell me what happened. So I went home and took a walk with the dog. watched news all day.

I was in a meeting on base. You could see that anger in everyones eyes. There was a nervous anticipation in the air because everyone knew we were going to have to go to work.

I was sitting in court, waiting for my 5 minutes in front of the judge for a disputed speeding ticket....some guy came in and whispered something in the judge's ear and his face went white.....I had no idea what was going on until afterwards when I overheard people talking in the lobby. I rushed home to call my cousin who lived in upper Manhattan. What a horrible day.

I was prepairing to relieve the off-going duty section as the second impact occured. Needless to say, no one got relieved. After ramping up the threatcon defense posture, we hit the phones, recalled our entire command and prepared for more. It was eerily quite that day, we didn't even taxi aircraft (VERY unusual at an active base). More than a few of my shipmates were advocating the conversion of the middle east into a glowing glass parking lot. All I could think of was how very tragic it all was. Didn't get home until late that night and packed my bags when I did, anticipating mobilization orders.

I was working in a concrete offloading terminal in an industrial park in Edmonton repairing a Curtis C98 compressor. American flags were popping up everywhere around town. Delivery trucks were all flying the flag when they pulled up. I remember signing for gas for the company truck and writing September 11, 2001 on the receipt, and knowing it was one of those milestone days in history. I still remember the shock and disbelief I felt that day. I supported the president in what he was about to do, but things got weird in a hurry.

I was in my office with no TV. My wife called to tell me what happened. I tried to get more info on CNN.COM, but there were so many people hitting their site, it wouldn't come up. I had to go home because my wife was freaking out.

On the one month anniversary I had to fly to DC. We flew right over the Pentagon while the President was speaking to a large crowd outside the Pentagon.

On the one year anniversary I was in NYC on business.

Today I had to fly somewhere.

I was going over riot control procedures with my squad in Ft. Myer, VA in the quad of my company barracks. A friend of mine told us that a plane hit the WTC, but I thought he was joking, (funny man, you know). Finally he convinced me to come in and watch the t.v., and it hit me then. The company got locked down and we were on night shift clean-up. Definitely not some of the prettiest stuff to see. If anyone wants to know some more, I'll be happy to talk about it. P.M. if ya want.

Here in the land downunder right in the middle of a major house renovation I awoke bleary eyed, to some news reports on the radio at around 6:30am. Sounded bad.

Got up and turned the TV morning news on and there it was - images of NYC and the Trade Centres collapsing.

    Images were hard to comprehend.

I had just dropped my son off at school. Heard about the second aircraft just before getting to work. Didn't have TV at work but did have one in my chevy van. So I turned it off the VCR and onto air signal and watched the second tower fall. My boss at that time, is now in Iraq.

I was pottering around in my garden when my neighbour came out almost in hysterics screaming about a plane crashing into the first tower. Saw the second on tv as it happened.

A few days later my wife and I went up to the American military cemetary at Cambridge, to pay our respects. Seemed the right thing to do at the time with queues a mile long outside the embassy.

On the road for a meeting with the Executive VP of the company and listening to a favourite rock 'n' roll station and when the news flashed on, it was so unreal, it was mistaken for a joke or prank, like when War of the Worlds was broadcast decades ago. Realized it was no joke when every station had the same or similar info running.

When we got to the meeting, it was a somber affair and we agreed that it was no time for business. So we ate a tasteless lunch and went back on the road. I can't remember a sadder trip anywhere, as all thoughts were for those terrified people crushed in the Towers and their horrified families. Arriving home, it was all over every TV channel and we were all struck dumb by the repeated sight of the Towers being so insanely violated. Couldn't imagine being put in that situation. Those poor people.

The resillience of the American spirit is amazing and the number of stories of heroism is astounding.

was in Art class my freshman year in High School,

heard someone say in the hall way that a plane crashed into a building in NY, thought nothing of it, until i went to my next class which was History, we then watched the news and the horror of that day, was very silent between classes, cross country practice was cancelled, i found my sister and we went home and sat and watch it with my family..

We had the next day made sure that the Flag was up and out, and found out that the school had decided not to allow the teachers to talk about it.. lots of anger and unhappy thoughts when that came about.. espically in history when they told us that.. made no sense to me why they did that, as it was current events adn we were not allowed to talk about it.. i thought and still think it was a bad decision by the school to make that decision... it should of been something we should of been allowed to talk about..

but it was a hard day for anyone, and i'm sure everyone will always remember that day.. and will always be etiched into their minds...

Hey everyone, new guy here. Just got my XJ, more on that in the other forum. As far as 9-11, I was a controller on an AWACS plane on a training mission over the east coast. We were tasked to try and find the third plane, the one that hit the Pentagon. I actually had it on my radar scope but by the time we found it it was too late. We spent the next few months patrolling the east coast and other sensitive areas around the country. We were directly overhead when the towers came down so I saw it from 30K feet. There were 24 of us on the jet and there wasn't a word spoken. But we all knew that someone would pay dearly for this. Ever since we've done everything we can to make sure this will NEVER happen again. Sorry. but this is a sore subject for me. That's why I still wear the uniform and will continue to wear it for as long as I possibly can. NEVER FORGET!!!

I was in jail (working) supervising inmates in a workshed when one of the staff came and told me "A plane flew into one of the twin towers" I asked "and whats the punchline?" he said "no punchline"
I phoned my wife at home who said it was true she was watching it on CNN. Then we all listend to the news reports on the radio. I got home from shift and watched the second plane hit and the towers fall on CNN

Of all the conversations Iv had with hundreds of people in the jail over 15 years. That is one I remembers most vividly
