    Hi,

Could anyone post a pic of the side/kick stand of their 81 xj550?
I assume other bikes will be the same.

I am trying to figure out the spring and apparently there is another part involved but I don't recall the setup.
The spring, the one I believe is my stand spring, alone appears to be too short.

I used to think that I am out-smarting the engineers when I managed to build something with less parts. Now I like my life and want to hold on to it for a bit longer.

I have no idea why it has 2 springs, but I am sure there is a valid reason.

Maybe when they designed it, the engineer was in the same situation. Forgot to put one spring somewhere else on the bike and didn't want to leave any spare parts. Lol

The second spring is there in case the main spring breaks (really).
You wouldn't want to suddenly find that your stand is deploying mid-corner.

If one breaks, you'll be glad there's still another one

That little plate is what activates the safety switch, mucho important. My Maxim had been "modified" by a PO. Took off 3 times with side stand down. Chacal fixed me up with the plate and the proper spring before I killed myself.
