I've been loooking at XJR 400s of late and coveting some of the parts such as front end, seat unit swinging arm etc.. They bikes look tantalising similar alought I note some difference on teh frame (e.g. to accommodate a swept-up seat). Does any one have any compatibility info ? Does anything from XJR series fit a 550- seca?

    Cheers

Any thing is possible...with a little time and lots of $$$$( I don't have a pound sign or Euro ) , but the 400 frame may have to be reinforced to take a 550 IE slightly heavier and more power. All you could do is try it, if you got one cheap enough !!!

The swingarm doesn't, I looked at fitting one a few years ago but the measurements the seller provided were different enough that I couldn't be bothered trying

I don't still have the measurements so I can't remember how much different it was

None of the XJR series of motorcycles were ever sold in the U.S.
But you can import one without hassle once they get to be 25 years old or more.

Write Yamaha. That's how the SR500/400 came back into the market.

The XJR400s were imports to the UK too - there are a few about though (2-3 on sale on ebay right now) and few being broken up. I'd love to offer up the tank
to my 550 bit I ain't going to buy one up front.
