    Hi,

I'm looking for help to diagnose my problem. The bike runs really well all the time when it's properly warmed up. The problem is, when I let it sit for a few days it still start right up with the choke on but seems like it takes forever to warm up, if I let it sit for a week sometimes it needs a spray of starter fluid to start. I usually let it warm up on choke in the driveway for a minute or so. After a few km of riding it usually runs fine again. When I do ride it and it's cold, getting off in first gear is boggy, almost a lack of power - fine on the high end but not as well as when it's warmed up. I even hear a slight back faint backfire sometimes (never does this warmed up). It will sometimes stall at lights if the choke is off before it's fully warm. Always, after a bit of riding all is well again.

I am running pods, but it's jetted with a 4-1 exhaust. I did two very thorough carb cleanings following the church of clean. The valves were all adjusted. I had bench synced the carb myself but got it done professionally by a well reputed shop that specializes in 80's Japanese bikes.

    Any ideas?

Set the petcock to prime after the machine has set for more than a few days. The float bowls are open to the atmosphere and gas does evaporate from them.

Adjust the enrichemnt lever as the bike begins to warm up. The reason it gets boggy is the the mixture is slowly becoming too rich as the machine warms, and the enrichment plungers need to be partally closed to compensate.

Also give the engine a few minutes to warm before riding away.

Don't forget the cold kills weak batteries. Put in a comfort lead and connect your battery to a trickle charger when you are not using it.
