    1984 xj750 automatic chain tensioner or manual?

    My 84 fj600 is auto. If there 1 bolt coming out of the side with a lock nut then it auto.

    Have a look, if the tensioner has a 12mm bolt-head at the back it's auto. A manual tensioner has a bolt on the top. A manual tensioner is adjusted with this bolt, it holds the adjuster in place.

    It might not be the original so looking is the best way.
